Young researchers: Call for papers working package 3: the international context of EU-Cuban relations

The Europe-Cuba Forum is a Jean Monnet Network (http://www.foroeuropacuba.org/es/es), financed by the European Commission. It comprises 11 leading institutions (CIDOB, GIGA, IHEAL, Albert Hirschman Center on Democracy, the Universities of Alicante, Salamanca and Warsaw, the Autonomous University in Madrid (UAM), the Complutense University in Madrid and two Cuban institutions (CIPI and University of Havana). A prominent goal of the project is to involve young researchers from both sides of the Atlantic in the research network

With this purpose, the Coordinators of Working Package 3 “The international context of EU-Cuban Relaciones), Susanne Gratius (UAM, Madrid) y Raynier Pellón (CIPI, Havana) invites early career scholars to present their research (max. 15 pages or 7.000 words) in English or Spanish. The papers should address the following issues:

 

  1. The EU and Cuba: common challenges and opportunities for global governance (pandemics like Covid 19 or natural disasters, climate change and sustainable development, poverty reduction, migration and refugee, etc. )

 

  1. Bilateral Relations (economic, social, cultural, political, development cooperation) between EU member States and Cuba: Germany, France, Poland, Spain, the UK or other European countries.

 

We kindly ask you to send a one-page summary of your proposal by Monday, 1 February 2021 to susannegratius@gmail.com o a raylisamanda@yahoo.es). If your proposal has been selected, you should send the final article (max. 7000 words) by 31 May 2021 to susannegratius@gmail.com o a raylisamanda@yahoo.es).

Doctoral students, researchers of and advanced master's degree students are eligible. The selection committee evaluates the academic quality of the papers and its thematic relationship with the conference. The best junior researcher work will receive an award of € 300 and might be included in the series of working documents of the Europe-Cuba Forum. The Europe-Cuba Forum provide travel costs and accommodation (maximum 465 Euros) for 4 participants (Europe).

CONVOCATORIA DE ARTÍCULOS PAQUETE 3:

EL CONTEXTO INTERNACIONAL DE LAS RELACIONES UE-CUBA

La Red Jean Monnet Foro Europa-Cuba (http://www.foroeuropacuba.org/es/es), financiado por la Comisión Europea, es un proyecto trienal (2019-2022) liderado por la Fundación CIDOB en Barcelona e integrado por 11 instituciones europeas (CIDOB, GIGA, IHEAL, Albert Hirschman Center on Democracy de Ginebra, Universidad de Alicante, de Salamanca y de Varsovia, así como la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid y la Universidad Complutense de Madrid) y dos cubanas (CIPI y Universidad de La Habana). Entre sus objetivos destaca la vinculación de investigadores jóvenes de ambos lados del Atlántico al proyecto.

Con este fin, los Coordinadores del tema 3 “El contexto internacional de las relaciones UE-Cuba”, Susanne Gratius (UAM, Madrid) y Raynier Pellón (CIPI, La Habana convocan a jóvenes investigadores para que presenten los resultados de sus investigaciones (máximo 15 páginas o 7.000 palabras) en castellano o inglés. Los trabajos deberían ser enfocados en los siguientes ejes temáticos:

 

  1. La UE y Cuba: desafíos compartido y oportunidades de cooperación en la gobernanza global (pandemias como la Covid 19 y desastres naturales, cambio climático y desarrollo sostenible, lucha contra la pobreza, migración y refugio, etc.)

 

  1. Las relaciones bilaterales (económicas, sociales, culturales, políticas, de cooperación) entre Estados miembros de la UE y Cuba: Alemania, Francia, España, Reino Unido, Polonia u otros países europeos.

Rogamos presentar un resumen de una página de la propuesta hasta el lunes, 1 de febrero de 2021 a susannegratius@gmail.com o a raylisamanda@yahoo.es y, en el caso de ser seleccionada la propuesta, redactar el trabajo final de un máximo de 7.000 palabras hasta el 31 de mayo de 2021 (enviar a susannegratius@gmail.com o a raylisamanda@yahoo.es).

Son elegibles estudiantes de doctorado, investigadores de y estudiantes de maestría avanzada. La selección se basará en la calidad académica del trabajo y en su relación temática con la conferencia. Además, el mejor trabajo de investigador junior recibirá un premio de € 300 y puede ser incluido en la serie de documentos de trabajo del Foro Europa-Cuba. Además, el Foro Europa-Cuba ofrece 465 Euros máximo para cubrir los costos de viaje y el alojamiento de 4 investigadores jóvenes (Europa).
